The Brief
Capture and broadcast the UAE’s 50th National Day as it happened — simultaneously, in nine cities — and cut it into a single, uninterrupted live feed.
The 50th National Day is one of the most significant celebrations in the country’s history, and the brief matched the occasion: no highlight reel, no post-edit — a genuinely live hour of fireworks and festivities streaming from all nine locations at once. Every feed had to arrive at a central control room in sync, ready to be switched live in front of a national audience.
That meant three problems to solve simultaneously: coverage (aerial and ground at nine sites), transport (getting 55+ live feeds back to one room without lag or drop-out), and direction (cutting it all into one coherent broadcast in real time).
The Solution
A distributed capture network of 55+ synchronized cameras, all feeding one central OB (outside broadcast) station.
1. The aerial fleet — 27 drones + 1 helicopter
Each of the nine locations was covered by three aerial drones — 27 in total — delivering sweeping, cinematic angles over crowds, skylines, and fireworks. A dedicated helicopter added a high-altitude hero perspective that tied the nationwide scale together. Aerial cinematography of this scale is the specialty of our aerial partner, Blackbird, whose drone and helicopter crews are built for exactly this kind of large-format, live event coverage.
2. Ground coverage — 27 cameras across 9 sites
Beneath the aerials, three ground cameras per location captured crowd energy, stage moments, and detail shots — the multi-camera discipline behind our live streaming and video production services. Together with the aerial fleet, that put 55+ live sources in play across the country at the same moment.
3. The interlink — one central OB station
The heart of the operation was a single OB (outside broadcast) station. Every crew — aerial and ground, in all nine cities — was interlinked to this central hub so the director could see all feeds, communicate with every team, and switch the live cut in real time. Coordinating that many simultaneous transmissions back to one room is a networking and connectivity challenge as much as a creative one — the same infrastructure thinking behind our event IT & connectivity solutions.
The Execution
On the night, all nine locations went live together. Drone and helicopter crews held their positions for the fireworks windows while ground cameras covered the celebrations below. Inside the OB station, the director monitored every feed on a unified wall and cut a continuous, one-hour live broadcast — moving between cities, altitudes, and angles without a single break in the stream.
Because every crew was interlinked to the same control room, cues, timing, and camera moves could be coordinated instantly across the entire country — keeping 55+ sources feeling like one show, not nine separate ones.

Why It Matters
Multi-location live streaming lives and dies on coordination. Any one of 55+ feeds dropping, drifting out of sync, or losing its link back to the OB station would break the illusion of a single, national broadcast.
